FAMILY COUNSELING AT THE BRIDGE FOR YOUTH
Our Family Counseling Program offers unparalleled expertise in working with youth and families in crisis, reuniting 70 percent of the youth in our programs with their families.
The Bridge for Youth uses a strength-based approach to therapy – an approach that sets us apart. We focus on helping clients identify their own competencies and use them to discover options and possibilities.
Our counselors ask questions that help clients construct their own narratives about their lives. Together our counselors and clients work together on a life narrative that builds on the client’s own times of strength and competencies to make lasting change.
We don’t talk in terms of what’s wrong and dysfunctional, what to “fix.” Rather we act as catalysts. We facilitate, but don’t direct. We provide inquiry, not education. We offer assistance, not control.
