Emergency Shelter Program Manager

Position Information

Position Overview

The ESP Manager is directly responsible for the development, implementation, and the ongoing of emergency services provided by BFY Emergency Shelter Program (ESP) for youth and their families; and for the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of youth during their involvement with BFY. This position requires operating within a framework of agency philosophy and goals, including team commitment and cooperation among services and programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hiring, supervision, coaching, training, and support to the BFY – Emergency Shelter Program (ESP)
  • Provide professional leadership and direction to the ESP lead and float staff, volunteers, and interns
  • Manage the day to day operations of the 24/7 Emergency Services Program; serve in a rotation of on-call managers
  • Plan, develop, implement, evaluate, and report on youth services and activities.
  • Model person-centered care
  • Provide, facilitate, arrange and participate in training of staff in the areas of skill development within the ESP to align with licensing compliance requirements of DHS
  • Create and implement positive youth development through housing stability, educational support, improved health, and economic security, access to services, and increased connections to community.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures, and ensure client service delivery coincides with providing a sense of safety, security, and stability for youth ages 10 – 17 and their families
  • Engage, interact, partner, and collaborate with external agencies and service providers to ensure that a continuum of care for the youth and their families is provided

Qualifications

Position requires Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy or related human services field and three years of demonstrated supervisory experience.

  • Co-facilitate and lead group sessions with youth.
  • Provide screenings for services, administer assessments and intake services, document and report abuse (when necessary), and complete required file work for youth entering the shelter program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or final year of B.A. program in psychology, social work, or related human services field and/or two years of experience working with youth.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (preferred). Bi-lingual (preferred).
  • Must clear a background check.
