LGBT Youth and their Families
Support for GLBT Teens
Since it’s founding in 1970, The Bridge for Youth has always been a safe place for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning teens. Staff work with teens who question their gender identity and sexual identity and help bridge relationships between gay teens and their parents or caregivers. Services include a 24-hour crisis hotline (612) 377-8800 for LGBT youth and families, free walk-in or by-appointment counseling, weekly support groups, and emergency shelter for youth ages 10-17.
So What if I Am , a Weekly Support Group for GLBT Teens
The Bridge for Youth hosts the area’s longest, continous running weekly support for GLBT teens. So What if I Am meets at The Bridge for Youth every Tuesday from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. The format includes a social hour/drop-in from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. followed by a one hour staff facilitated group from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Youth get the opportunity to share what’s on their minds, meet other GLBT teens, work through issues, share successes, talk honestly, and find support.
